OpenGeo

Because of the nature of our systems integration work at CH2M HILL we are big users of GeoServer and the OpenGeo stack. We have been using GeoServer on a number of projects since version 1.4 integrating spatial database backends to different front end mapping applications.
In our current work for HarvestChoice we've loaded close to 100 layers and we are expecting about 1100 more so we can't wait for the rest configuration API. If anyone has not seen the new OpenGeo web site, take a look. Having the extra help through contracting with OpenGeo Enterprise should really make a difference on some larger projects.

I've had the opportunity to meet with Chris Holmes and Justin DeOliveira on several occasions. And I think the OpenGeo Enterprise idea makes alot of sense for organizations like CH2M HILL which works on large projects, routinely needs to integrate disparate technologies and needs a single neck to choke when it comes to support and maintenance. I’m still trying to break through some organizational barriers with respect to using Open Source software stacks on private sector projects but I think we’re almost there.
